Have you been down Jericho Road
And seen all the carnage down there?
The beaten and broken, all the lost souls;
The battered and bruised are everywhere.
It’s not a place for sight-seeing tours;
There is nothing attractive to see;
The smell of death and destruction rules;
It’s a horrible place to be.
I once dwelt in that terrible place,
Crawled around in the gutters of life;
Even my best was nothing but waste:
Then down Jericho Road walked Christ.
He picked me up and bandaged my sores,
In mercy, took me out of that place,
Paid all my dues; I’m free evermore;
“Thank You Jesus for wonderful grace”.
Jericho Road is teeming with those
Who are trapped in the “wicked one’s” snares;
Jesus alone can rescue their souls;
We’re His merciful messengers there.

This is a beautiful testimony to the mercy and grace of God. Many of us lived on Jericho Road. I did. I thank God for the McLaughlins who were God’s “merciful messengers” sent to me. Thank you for your wonderful gift of sharing truth in poetry. Linda
