A Prodigal’s Journey
I’ve drunk at broken cisterns,
Quenched my thirst at stagnant pools,
Wallowed in foreign pigsties,
Fed my soul the stuff of fools.
Swine swill has been my portion,
In which heart and soul were steeped;
No hope; just desperation,
As the filth I sowed, I reaped.
Sunk deep in dreadful darkness,
Not a sign of light seeped through;
Who can pull me from this morass?
Who can rescue and renew?
In my time of great despair
As I wrestled with my plight,
I heard a voice from somewhere
Telling me —”Have faith in Christ”.
I grasped what I was hearing
As a drowning man grasps life,
Cried out with all my being—
“Rescue me, Lord Jesus Christ”.
He pulled me from the cesspit
And He cleansed me from my sin;
He showered me with blessing
As His Spirit entered in.
How I love my Redeemer!!
Praise His Name for He is great!!
Jesus Christ, Blessed Saviour,
My eternal Advocate!!

Vincent, You’ve told the story of thousands of saints…. their journey from misery and despair to praise and glory! May this poem to be an encouragement to lost souls who will read this and find hope in Christ. Linda
